Online Streaming Programming!

During this “stay at home” time we want to offer you the opportunity to view many of the independent films that would ordinarily be showing at the Wilmette Theatre.  Distributors are providing virtual screenings where the Wilmette Theatre receives a portion of the income, to help support the Theatre until we are able to reopen.

We are booking a wider range of movies than we would ordinarily show in the Theatre, so we encourage you to carefully read the movie description, reviews and view the trailers before making your selection.  Rotten Tomatoes is an excellent source for information.  You can see their ratings and click on the various reviews for detailed discussion and evaluation of the movie.  https://www.rottentomatoes.com/

We welcome your feedback and suggestions for viewing options.  Stay healthy during this difficult time.

We hope to see you back at the Theatre once it is safe.  We miss all of you!

76 DAYS

On January 23rd, 2020, China locked down Wuhan, a city of 11 million, to combat the emerging COVID-19 outbreak. Set deep inside the frontlines of the crisis, 76 DAYS tells indelible human stories at the center of this pandemic—from a woman begging in vain to bid a final farewell to her father, a grandpa with dementia searching for his way home, a couple anxious to meet their newborn, to a nurse determined to return personal items to families of the deceased. THE KEEPER

The Keeper tells the incredible true story of Bert Trautmann (David Kross), a German soldier and prisoner of war who, against a backdrop of British post-war protest and prejudice, secures the position of Goalkeeper at Manchester City, and in doing so becomes a footballing icon.  His signing causes outrage to thousands of fans, many of them Jewish. But Bert receives support from an unexpected direction: Rabbi Alexander Altmann, who fled the Nazis.  Bert’s love for Margaret (Freya Mavor), an Englishwoman, carries him through and he wins over even his harshest opponents by winning the 1956 FA Cup Final, playing on with a broken neck to secure victory. But fate will soon twist the knife for Bert and Margaret, when their love and loyalty to each other is put to the ultimate test.

Myth Of A Colorblind France

For more than a century, Black artists, authors, musicians and others have traveled to Paris to liberate themselves from the racism of the United States. What made them choose France? Why were the French fascinated by the newcomers? And to what extent was and is France truly colorblind?

Myth of a Colorblind France investigates these questions and examines the ways that racism has plagued not only Blacks fleeing the United States, but people of color in France today. The film explores the lives and careers of renowned African Americans who emigrated to Paris, including Josephine Baker, James Baldwin, Richard Wright, Beauford Delaney, Augusta Savage, and Lois Mailou Jones, and includes rare home movie footage of Henry Ossawa Tanner in Paris.

RBG

In tribute to Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s life and unparalleled legacy upholding justice, Magnolia Pictures is proud to offer our documentary RBG for Virtual Cinema ($6.99 to own). Magnolia will be donating our net proceeds to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) Foundation in support of their Women’s Rights Project, which was co-founded by Ginsburg in 1972. While we're all mourning the loss of an American hero, we hope that viewers will be re-introduced to her work, and take her passion and courage back out into the world.

The Oscar®-nominated and Emmy®-winning documentary RBG, directed by award-winning filmmakers Betsy West and Julie Cohen, chronicles the inspiring and personal story of Ginsburg’s rise to the nation’s highest court while becoming an unexpected pop culture icon. “From her Supreme Court chambers to her exercise room, what a privilege and a joy it was for us to train our cameras on RBG, and capture the story of this feisty, determined, brilliant woman who used her talents to make our world a better place," said West and Cohen.

A Chef's Voyage

"A Chef's Voyage" follows the celebrated American Chef David Kinch and his team from Manresa, their 3 Star Michelin restaurant in California, for a one-of-a-kind collaboration with three legendary French chefs at their iconic restaurants in Paris, Provence, and Marseille.  To mark the 15th anniversary of Manresa, Kinch decides to close shop for a month so he and his staff can embark on their France voyage. Planning the trip takes months and the logistics are tricky: how to sneak the food on flights; unfamiliar host kitchens; a language barrier and more.  We go behind the scenes as the Manresa crew attempts to stage nine major meals over 10 days in the world’s most cinematic venues, alongside culinary superstars, with the world watching (and tasting) — all to celebrate 15 years of Manresa excellence by doing what Chef Kinch and his team do best: creating meals and experiences worthy of those three stars.
