About
A venue for vinifera, the Captain's Walk Winery offers premium grape wine tasting in a light-hearted manner. Partake in a laid back experience that usurps the snobbery out of wine while enjoying a unique tasting education. This pre-civil war house has been updated carefully to recapture 150 years of character. Plaster crown molding, the original fireplace and hardwood floors complement openings that offer viewing of the production room and cellars.

My husband and I just found out about this winery through the Trip Advisor app and decided to give it a try. We were so pleasantly surprised to have such a great experience! Donna, the new owner, was welcoming and fun to talk to. She explained her wines and led us through a nice tasting. The Sangiovese was our favorite! So delicious and comparable to California wines. The Meritage and Cabernet-Malbec were also excellent. The winery also offers ciders. We took home a growler of the Wisconsin Maple Brown to enjoy on Thanksgiving.

We would definitely recommend stopping by! The winery will be closed for remolding and will have a grand re-opening on November 19, 2022. Again, Donna is just a joy to meet!

What a delightful setting for a winery in a very old, beautifully and tastefully renovated house downtown. When you enter the wine bar, you can actually see wine barrels aging in the cellar through a large glass-covered hole in the floor

Our wine tasting host was very personable and enthusiastic about her wares, a true wine connoisseur. She was well versed, not just about Captain's Walk wines, but about wine in general.

You can buy wine tasting @ $3 for seven samples or $5 for seven samples including the five premium selections. You won't want to miss Maiden Voyage, so spend two extra dollars for the premium tasting.

Buy your favorite by the glass in prices ranging anywhere from $5 to $14 per serving, and kick back at one of the tables in the tasting bar. You can order food as well, but we had dinner reservations elsewhere so didn't eat here.

Bottles of your favorite blends sell for $15 to $29, a little on the pricey side, but there are some really interesting choices. Sample the Sauvignon Blanc and you'd swear there was fresh grapefruit in your glass. They don't disappoint.

Fudge samples are also available at one dollar per piece. Divine pairing with the Sangiovese. Had I known how nice the wines are, we'd have allotted more time for Captain's Walk.

The first weekend of February my husband and our wine touring bucket list buddies stopped in at Captain's Walk. We had been there four times prior to this stop and I guess that is a testiment to the quality of the wine and the camaraderie of the captain's crew. We so enjoyed this visit as we lnot only sampled some of our favoirite wines, but we learned about the "hauntings" and history of the house. The crew doesn't just pour the wine ; they teach the samplers about how the glass opening changes the taste and how food pairings can accentuate the taste as well.
We are three and a half hours from the Captain's , but that has not deterred us from making the drive. We have toured wineries in eight states and Captain's Walk remains a favorite.

My husband and I were driving home to Milwaukee after spending a weekend in Door County, Wisconsin the first week of March, 2008. We ended up stopping by Captain's Walk Winery on a complete whim after we saw a billboard on the highway while driving through Green Bay. We loved what we sampled at the tasting bar and ended up buying over 8 bottles of wine on the spot (mind you, we just came from Door County and had been wine tasting for 3 days with a trunk load of wine purchases), including one of the large "special" editions of the great dessert wine. After bringing the wine home and being able to enjoy it at dinner or while just relaxing - we consider Captain's Walk wine to be on a different level from the other wines we are used to buying. We regularly buy wine to enjoy (we are originally from nothern CA), so we feel that we have a good idea on how to "judge" wine. We were so impressed, and will be reordering soon! If you are visiting the area, it's a great place to stop in and sample - take a few bottles home! If you live in the area, it's a great place to stock up on wine, as well as use their room upstairs for parties, bridal showers, game day, etc. - the only cost being that you buy two bottles of wine to enjoy while there.

We enjoyed doing a wine tasting and picking up on the history of the "Captains Walk". They have a reasonable variety of good wines and cider to try. I was expecting a lot of "fruit" wines but they go way beyond. Also offer cheeses, gift items (including Packer and Badger items). Relaxing way to spend 45 minutes.

Not friendly. Very awkward. Staff who helped us with the tastings perhaps didn't want to be there?? We had planned to stay and have a cheese platter and glasses of wine, but did not feel welcome. Unfortunately a dour man at the counter.

We visited Captain's Walk Winery with some friends on a recent visit to Green Bay. The tasting room is located in an old home. The tasting room was busy, however, there is plenty of room to sit and wait and there are unique items for purchase if you want to do a little shopping! The tasting is very inexpensive as you may taste five to seven wines for $5.00. The wines were good and we really enjoyed their various ciders as well. The staff was very friendly and well informed on the wines and ciders. We had a nice visit and look forward to returning on our next visit to Green Bay.

I completed a wine tasting in the sampling room. The wines overall were priced correctly and they offered a variety of types. However, they were overall okay in taste. They do offer a menu, I did not have time to try but it did look good. I would try this place again but sit in the bistro. The staff was not rude just not personable, it seemed they want you in and out quickly.

We came to this winery expecting a wine tasting experience. We had it. No problem about that. Wine was good.

However, after going to Door county, the experience there was a lot more complete and for a few of them free of charge, in an environment which is a lot more "natural". The personnel was kind, but there was too few personnel to take care of everybody coming.

Hi There, I'm sorry that we did not exceed your expectations, and I apologize if you had to wait for service. Regarding the "natural" feel, we wanted to be part of downtown Green Bay and love historic buildings. Revitalizing this location was the best means to accomplish those two goals, and it meant that we could save an old building that was in decay. We agree that there are some fantastic wineries nearby in Door County, and are proud to say that we get along with them all. We do recommend that guests also visit other wineries so that they can find wines and experiences that most suite their "taste". Thank you for the honest review. Brad

This was a great wine tasting experience. The merchant was knowledgable and helpful. We walked away with some new favorite wines and a great new gadget for uncorking.
