Fascia is the soft tissue component of the connective tissue that provides support and protection for most structures within the human body, including muscle. This soft tissue can become restricted due to psychogenic disease, overuse, trauma, infectious agents, or inactivity, often resulting in pain, muscle tension, and corresponding diminished blood flow. Although fascia and its corresponding muscle are the main targets of myofascial release, other tissue may be affected as well, including other connective tissue.

 

In this workshop, physical therapist and yoga therapist Chrys Kub, will detail how to create a yoga practice which taps into releasing Myofascial restrictions.  You will be introduced to Yaapana YogaTM which means “support and extension of life.” Yaapana Yoga combines proven mind-body principles with advanced teaching methods in an innovative blend of vinyasa flow to warm and prepare the body for poses held dynamically and restoratively using props for therapeutic support.  Within this practice, you will learn how to integrate Myofascial unwinding and direct Myofascial release techniques using the foam roller.

If you cannot bring a foam roller, one can be purchased at the workshop for $20.00

Chrys Kub, PT, ERYT 500 has been practicing and teaching yoga for over 10 years, and training yoga instructors since 2008. She has studied with many of the masters in therapeutic yoga including Mukunda Stiles, Doug Keller, Susie Aldous Hately, and Leeann Carey. Chrys is a practicing physical therapist and yoga therapist and a member and Peer Reviewer of the International Association of Yoga Therapists. She has developed the Structural Yoga Therapy Course for many teacher training programs. She has taught and inspired yoga teachers throughout the US focusing on how to expand the therapeutic benefits of yoga for both themselves and their students. Through her trainings, Chrys will show both the student and the teacher how to observe themselves and their students, honoring each person’s unique capabilities and limitations, enabling aspiring teachers to create both their personal practice and style of teaching. Join Chrys, to further develop and explore your unique practice.

This workshop is for ALL LEVELS. 

Please bring a yoga mat, water and any other items you need for yoga practice.
