This is one of those restaurants that changes a bit depending on who's working.

I've eaten at their lunch buffet twice this year but I'd rate my first experience a solid four stars, my second deserved a mere two.

The first time there were plenty of nice dairy-free options including an excellent vegetable korma made with coconut milk. Everything was hot and seemed fresh and my water was refilled several times. When I was finished eating, I was offered either a small box for free or a larger box for two dollars extra- a major point in their favor because my eyes are often bigger than my stomach and I don't believe in leaving my delicious leftovers behind.

On my second visit, there were only two vegan curries, dal makhani and a saag, and neither was anything to write home about. The dal needed some spice and its temperature was too low. The saag was spicy enough but its flavor was rather two-dimensional.

The server brought me more naan at no extra charge which I was pleased with but I never did get a water refill. And when I requested a box I was told that they don't give boxes at the buffet. Umm... since when? I said I'd pay a little extra and she charged me FOUR DOLLARS for a styrofoam box. I was only on my second plate and there was barely anything left anyway. Total. Complete. Rip-off.

On the flip side, both the pakoras and naan were a little better this time, a clear indication that a different chef was cooking. I do realize that no chef works seven days a week but they should try to synchronize their styles a bit better so customers know what to expect.

lunch buffet's non-dairy options: dal makhani, saag, pakoras, rice, & mattar paneer (which true vegans shouldn't eat; it contained cheese)

Lunch buffet was a great deal! Loved the veggie korma and the tandoori chicken. So much flavor and perfectly cooked

I wasn't a huge fan of the chicken tika masala an the naan crisped up a bit after cooling. But with so many other options (and my bf liking the tika masala), I would return here for sure for the lunch or buffet special

A little taste of [almost] everything from the lunch buffet!

Wow! This is not the same as the old Sizzling Tandoor.

Really delicious, complex curries. Obvious culinary talent and care going into the Buffet dishes.

Very good sauce selection with the best balanced mint sauce I have had on a long time.

See how many Indian places I frequent. This place is for real. I love Star India too so will now have to rotate between these two fine establishments.

Lunch buffet is open on weekends. Super affordable. Genuinely friendly staff. Have I ever given a 5 star? I think I will.

Fish curry. Lots of sauce varieties.
      Fish Tiki Masala.. Very good.

Tuesday evening and the place was busy.

I love indian food and this place is outstanding for the whole bay area - including the city. I've been here twice now and the service is very good, and the food is delicious.

They have everything on the menu - and the ability to make the preparation mild to spicy. I love spicy and my friend loves mild.

We split a sample platter - w/ samosa's, pakora's etc. all delicious w/ 3 well made sauces, a sweet tamarind, spicy cilantro, and something like a tikka massala.

Then I had the chicken tandoori - wow, so tender and delicious, and my friend had the chicken tikka masalla and he loved it - accompanied with garlic and cheese naan.

Ganga waited on us and she was a delight - attentive, knowledgable and helpful.

      Best in the Region!!

Staff was super friendly and informative. The flavor was pretty strong, in a good way. We ordered appetizers, some kind of side sauce with yogurt, curry, lamb.... the works!! We loved it.
      Didn't have room for dessert.

THIS IS NOT THE SAME "SIZZLING TANDOOR" BY BODEGA BAY!
Thank gods. The other place is a nightware!!

Against my better judgement I went to Sizzling Tandor. It's my friend's favorite restaurant. My last experience was less than steller.

Last night Biriani (sp), naan and wine list were great. The Bogle Reisling really cuts the heat. The waitress was friendly and attentive not like my last experience. I've had better saag. I'll update my review to 3 stars.

An interesting restaurant to say the least. The food was good but nothing special compared to other spots in town. When we were first sat, the table was small and could definitely not fit the amount of food we were about to order. There was a belly dancer that was okay but wasn't there very long and got kind of close to the table making it a little awkward. We were given an envelope to tip her even though she danced for one song while we were there.

Water came out for us but there was a plastic and foil wrapper that once held a pill inside floating in mine. Once I figured out what it was I asked for another water and tried to explain to the waitress what it was. She looked confused and when she return with a new water and asked me if that water was ok. I was even more puzzled thinking "I don't know does it have a pill cap in it? If it doesn't then it should be ok isn't it? You tell me if the water you gave me is ok." I kept an open mind though and tried to enjoy the meal and really give the restaurant a full chance ordering a good part of the menu.

We asked for an appetizer, some naan, a salad and then two entrees with a side of rice. 15 minutes into waiting the waiter finally brought little crunchy things with dipping sauce and said it was for us because we were waiting so long for our food. After looking around I realized everyone else had it as well. So wouldn't you just put this in the table with water. Like getting bread and butter at an American restaurant and not try to explain its existence.

Our appetizer finally came out and maybe within two minuets the rest of our food arrived. I ordered a salad to come with the appetizer but it never showed. We already had enough food and after trying to talk to the waitress about the water I figured I would leave that alone not even checking the bill for it. It wasn't worth trying to figure out.

The food was tasty and the place would have a great rating if not for the bad service, awkward atmosphere and terribly timed food. I guess it is good to mention that they were not busy at our arrival and nothing seemed like it should have lacked the basic fundamentals of food service.

Okay, the first few times we were here, the food was really good. However, on Saturday night three of us shared the "MIxed Grill" and it was BURNT. not just charred, but burnt enough so that we could have used it as charcoal.

We did enjoy the chicken tikka massala, but the rice was dry and kind of crunchy. The onion kulcha bread was delicious, but we were so hungry, the bread and masala just wasn't enough to fill us up.

It seems that the food at House of Curry and Grill is hit or miss. The restaurant is never busy, so not sure why the food would be burnt. They also had belly dancing on Saturday night, but it was a couple of overweight moms (grandmothers?) doing the same two moves . . . over and over. When they passed the hat, we were happy to pay them to quit.

Am going to try this restaurant again, but am leery of ordering the tandoori dishes again. Why is it sometimes good and other times, horrible?

For food that is consistently GREAT, I would recommend "Torch of India" which is on 4th St. We've never had a bad meal there and we've eaten there dozens and dozens of times.

I went here on a Sunday because torch of india is closed on Sunday's. I really wanted to like to this place however I was slightly disappointed.
I ordered the chicken tikka masala with the garlic naan. Instead of pappad they give you a soup which was pretty good.
The chicken in the masala was somewhat tough and not so much tender. The sauce just seemed bland compared to torch of India.
This place wasn't too busy when I was there, but it seemed like it took for ever to get my order placed, the delivery of food, and getting the bill.
I might try this place again but order something other than the masala. On a side note; the staff was pretty friendly
