I have only ever ordered breakfast from here and never went in for fresh food.
I went on a huge uber eats delivery binge at the time because I just didn't feel like cooking. The university area is filled with cafes and coffee shops which don't tend to have many *real* options for breakfast. Bagel factory has omelettes and skillets available, in addition to french toast and sandwiches. You also get a bagel for free on the side (at least with the skillets and omelettes you do) which is nice and there's a bit of variety.
I was never really blown away but it was decent, and much better than having crepes or something.
They also make milkshakes which tend to be good, but that isn't their main thing.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Haiqiao J.Akron, OH2118470Dec 24, 2023
Good food, pretty quick service.
Sneaky sneaky pricing. Adds $1 for any adjustment to a sandwich (eg add tomato, change cream cheese)
Total cost $110 for 5 sandwiches, a Diet Coke, a tea, and an iced coffee.
Couldn't not give an itemized receipt
The price not being the issue, it's the guy telling me "I've been doing this for 34 years" when I asked him for a receipt to see what the actual charges wereHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Darby D.OH, OH05Apr 22, 2024
A girlfriend and I went out for a coffee and bagels. We were at first very excited with the long line and variety of bagels, however once we got our coffee we were met with what we believe was expired milk. I got an iced mocha and she got a hot latte and both coffees were rancid. It wasn't just us either, a girl after us got an iced coffee of some sort and the same thing happened to her.
The bagels weren't awful, however there was a hair in my friends bacon, egg, and cheese.
Service was great!!! The people were nice and I bet there are other great foods there! But just don't get the coffeeHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nov 9, 2023
Left feeling satisfied. The chive bacon shmear was chive cream cheese with 2 big pieces of real bacon! Pleasant surprise. It doesn't have a polished atmosphere but that's what makes it an institution in Sq Hill. The bagels here are above average for Pittsburgh.

I hate to be the fly in the bagel schmear, but I was so disappointed. We stopped in for some pre-shopping noshing, and I happily ordered the matzoh ball soup while others ordered bagels.
My soup was not hot and the amount of turkey on my daughter's turkey bagel sandwich was pathetic. (see pic) To make matters worse, the restaurant was pretty much filthy. Can't say I'd come back any time soon.Helpful 21Thanks 0Love this 9Oh no 0 - Nov 3, 2022
I stopped here for a breakfast bagel sandwich since I was in the area for work. I was surprised to see such a low average rating on Yelp, but I tried to keep an open mind. After all, how could anyone mess up a bagel sandwich?
There's a surprisingly large amount of inside seating which was nice because I wanted to do some computer work while eating my breakfast. The staff were polite and friendly and my food was ready within 5 minutes of ordering at the counter.
I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on an egg bagel. While the sandwich was definitely not bad, I was a bit disappointed by what seemed like sparse toppings. Overall, it was an average breakfast, which was disappointing for what seemed like a nice independent bagel shop in a boutique sort of neighborhood.
While my experience here was not terrible, I will be looking for other options the next time I'm in need of breakfast in Squirrel Hill.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 1133142815191May 17, 2022
This locally owned and operated bagel shop is located in the heart of the Squirrel Hill area and has a very nice selection of bagels, and other outstanding offerings, whether you're eating in, taking out or using GrubHub or UberEats for delivery.
I'm all about a really good bagel, and I've enjoyed several here, but there's a lot more going on here for your breakfast, or anytime, culinary desires. Yes there's lots of bagel and bagel sandwich choices but 16 other sandwiches as well. Like the Lox & Latkes which is smoked salmon between some homemade potato pancakes or their homemade pastrami that is very nicely done. There's 10 different burgers, including vegan, a nice choice of breakfast plates with omelettes, challah French toast, corned beef hash and even a breakfast burrito, and it's not bad at all.
Oh yeah, thirsty? Coffee, lattes, juices, lemonade, hot chocolate, teas, floats, or Campfire S'mores Milkshake is just one of their 25+ shakes. You can get loaves of breads, cookies, beignets, freshly cut fruit, and a bag full of bagels with
Bottom line: It's a cool place with a deli vibe, good coffee, lots of choices of good food and reasonable prices, and indeed they're the best bagels in the area. Recommended!

Service is friendly and helpful but very slow. Place is not particularly clean or appealing for dine in but outside space is nice. Prices are steep for bagel sandwiches but they are quite good. The turkey BLT on Asiago cheese was so tasty that I meant to take a photo for my review but couldn't stop eating long enough to make it happen. I know they are hiring so if the pace picks up (I waited over 20 minutes for my sandwich and only two folks were ahead of me in line), I might revisit this review cuz that sandwich was certainly nothing short of delicious.
