THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Takashi Restaurant Review:

He’s done fine dining (Ambria, Tribute), Vegas (Okada at Wynn) and even fast food (Noodles by Takashi Yagihashi at Macy’s). Here, chef Takashi Yagihashi goes intimate, his eponymous Bucktown restaurant proffering refined French and Japanese cuisine. Attention to detail is evident at this serene spot, from the Zen-like décor and beautiful dishware to the cozy-yet-elegant booths. Then there’s the food, a combination of hot and cold small plates and entrée-size dishes, which balance bright flavors with contrasting textures. The trio of house-made pâté and terrine carries varied, subtle flavors. Other enjoyable starters are the sautéed Maine scallops and the duck confit salad with a begging-to-be-popped, sunny side up quail egg. We do suggest saving room for the large plates, especially the Amish chicken prepared in a clay pot with haricots verts, eggplant and shimeji mushrooms. There’s a well-thought-out, international wine list as well as a selection of sakés from Yagihashi’s hometown. Desserts do not disappoint, starting with sheep’s milk panna cotta and tropical fruit brunoise.
