This store is the best!!! I always go in for hair care and end up with something more.
I have very frizzy curly hair, and they have the best product to keep my frizz in control.
I religiously use morrocon oil too for shampoo, and they carry the line! I bought the shampoo the last time on amazon because of work I couldn't get by, never again- this place is too cute to not go in!
Also if you sign up for their perks program, which you just need to give them your name and phone number, you save points. Amazon doesn't do that, and I always say I can buy drugstore make up but bad shampoo is like putting bad oil in your car, so my shampoo bills can rack up so I'm thankful for the point system- I got $15 off the last time I was there, just for shopping for what I was going to buy anyways!!
Not to mention the gift section too! I have been looking for a new going out perfume as I used mine up, and they carry the tokoyo milk brand which I love (anthropologie carries the brand as well), good size bottles that are affordable for perfume. And I got my dog a bandana last time that says "cuter than your boyfriend"!
Thanks beauty store for being the best neighborhood beauty supply.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

I did not feel comfortable in this store. I was trying to get some last minute gifts for a vacation and was followed around the store. The items are scattered in a way that doesn't really make sense and the price point on most items is ridiculous. The people at the front counter were catty and I will never be back. This was quite embarrassing and I hope tourists and locals stay away from this place

105 degrees outside and The Beauty Store has their door propped open, AC blasting at full throttle, spilling cold air outside. Meanwhile, Austin Energy is sending pleas via text to the entire city asking everyone to voluntarily conserve energy so the grid doesn't fail. Beauty Store, doors still wide open, cold air rushing out. All the other shops around them have chosen to take the high road and close their doors to conserve energy. Not the Beauty Store. On this alone, I am boycotting them, and ask other Austinites with a conscience to do the same. This is not a minor issue.

I love this store and have been regularly shopping there for years! Not only do they have wonderful hair products and supplies they also have great gifts, from jewelry to beauty products -- even hilarious socks! I always end up spending quite a bit at the Beauty Store on stocking stuffers for Christmas. The staff always greets me with a smile and a "how can we help you" - don't really get a lot of that anymore in retail. Highly recommend!

Just never had a great experience in these stores so I just quit going. I met the owner and it was obvious why most other don't like this place. Starts from the top!

I love this cute shop! If I go to Central Market, it's a must. My car cleverly parks right in front and I can't resist. The wonderful Western swing music lures me inside. If some guy showed up in tight jeans and boots I'd be two-steppin' with him!
They have the cutest socks featuring Austin themes, Willie (yeah, that Willie) and Texas. So many to choose from and you will want them all. Don't forget the funny name plates and all those adorable dog knick knacks. Tiffany is always helpful and insists on the perfect gift wrap. Great service!
You could also have your hair cut and styled here but it's the gift selection that draws me in. Oh, and the western swing music, too, of course.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0Business owner information

Well, I have been here several times and the last time was not so good. Always bought my Biolage shampoo here.
My mom happened to buy me a 'bed head' product last week that didn't work at all with my hair. So, I went in with the full product (their tag attached) and nope no way Jose. No exchange w/o a receipt. Too bad mom went out of town for the next 2 weeks.
Crapola customer service. CVS is better than that.
I think I'll just stick with my salon or good ol' HEB. The hassle isn't worth it.
Who wants my card? it has about 28 bucks stamped on it.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dec 4, 2012Updated review
This place is my go-to for OPI and Essie nail polishes. (They don't carry China Glaze, so I go to Sally's for that brand.) Since my last review I've gone here many, many times to pick up the newest OPI collections and I've noticed this:
The people here are really friendly. They aren't all in your face trying to help you, which I appreciate. They say a general hello, can I help you with anything? and if you say you're fine, they actually let you browse without bowling you down. I like that.
The loyalty card is awesome. They punch holes for every dollar you spend, instead of other store cards where they punch holes for every $5 or whatever. And I think they round up! When the card is filled, they mail you a coupon for $10 off your next purchase. You can see why my nail polish collection has grown.
Their sale rack for nail polish is great. I got a whole bunch of the Katy Perry and Muppet collections for 50% off, when places like HEB were still selling them for full-price during the summer. If you keep up with the trends and know what collections are new or fading, you will save a bundle here. (Sadly, the more popular colors from collections, like the Holland collection, went straight into the mix of general OPI colors for full-price, so it doesn't always work!)
I really like this place. Give it a try.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Thanks so much for your review, Elissa! Have you seen the new Mariah Carey collection from OPI? We just put it out two days ago. It's flying off the shelves. There are some new type polishes, Liquid Sand, in this collection. Hope to see you soon!
Nov 28, 2010Previous reviewI went in here with no preconceived notions about the store -- I was just wandering around the entire Central Market complex window-shopping, basically -- and thought that I may as well find a good topcoat (nail polish) while I was in a beauty supply store. I did hear the two employees working there talking about their respective lives but it wasn't anything terrible. Just amusing anecdotes about their movie-watching habits. I guess I don't mind listening in to that sort of thing because I like to think of employees as people and not soulless automatons designed to shill products. When I interrupted their conversation to ask about nail polish, they graciously stopped talking and one employee showed me her favorite brand of topcoat and the other rang me up. I haven't tried it yet but their customer service was spot-on.
There is an interesting selection of products here, and I can tell you right now that there was an extensive selection of Essie and OPI nail polishes and pretty much the entire Burt's Bees product line. It's smaller than Sally's Beauty Supply and doesn't seem to have everything that Sally's sells, but I'd say it's way more specialized towards beauty than CVS, so don't go to a drug store when you need salon-type products! Go here instead. - Isabelle K.Austin, TX214606691Mar 3, 2012
It's next to Central Market. Never noticed this salon in the past. It's a combination store selling hair and cosmetics products.
Walked inside further, you will find they have several hair stylist too. I made the appointment with Kay Leigh for facial and massage combination. It lasts almost one hour and half. Here is her website: https://www.facebook.com/Skinbykayleigh
The procedures are below:
1. Deep clean; the second,
2. Exfoliation;
3. Clean-up (extraction);
4. Mask;
5. Massage
So far I like this salon. And I noticed Kay's skin has a very good condition too. So I trust her.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information
