Stop Smoking
Hypnosis can be highly effective for eliminating bad habits such as smoking, and
can greatly reduce or stop the withdrawal symptoms usually
associated with quitting.
Don't light that butt! Have you ever been so desparate for a cigarette that you have dug around in the ashtray to find a butt you could still smoke? Don't put off quitting any longer - sign up for the Stop Smoking Now program today! As a librarian working in the health services research field, I regularly read up on the latest research about smoking, and incorporate successful techniques into my program.
Stop Smoking Now! $325
This is a five-session program designed to support you in
becoming a non-smoking, fresh-air breather. Using a variety
of techniques, you will learn self-hypnosis and deep breathing
techniques to support you along the way as well as some useful
tips and tricks to build motivation and reduce stress. This
package includes a self-hypnosis CD to use at home.
Session 1: This includes an intake interview
to find out your reasons for smoking, and more importantly
your reasons and motivation for quitting. It also aims to
bring to conscious awareness any internal conflict you have
regarding smoking, i.e. "part of me wants to quit but
part of me really enjoys smoking." You will be given
some "homework" to do.
Session 2: This session involves a number
of hypnotic techniques to help you resolve any internal conflict
before starting the program proper. At the end of this session
you will choose your "quit date" and will schedule
your next hypnosis appointment for the following day, when
you will have been tobacco free for 24 hours.
Session 3: You may only progress to this
session if you have been tobacco-free for 24 hours. If you
are unable to take this step, you are not ready for this program
and should review your motivation for quitting, and start
again when you are ready. This session includes creating an
aversion to cigarettes, meaning that tobacco will be associated
with unpleasant feelings from now on. This session builds
on your good work, reinforcing the benefits of not smoking,
and focuses on anti-stress techniques, how to deal with cravings,
and building up your motivation and will-power even more.
You will receive a self-hypnosis CD to use at home for relaxation
and dealing with stress.
Session 4: At this point you will have
been tobacco-free for one week. This session will continue
to reinforce your new healthy behaviors.
Session 5: This is a reinforcement session
that focuses on your new healthy behaviors. You may schedule
it any time from 1-6 weeks after Session 4.

There are some differences between people who become ex-smokers and
those who relapse and start smoking again. Self-beliefs, coping
behaviors and social support from family, spouse/partner and
friends are all important factors in long-term success. My program
helps you strengthen your new identity as a non-smoker and fresh
air breather. The program also addresses these social or emotional
issues and can make you more aware of your own behavior patterns
and beliefs, and the behaviors of those around you.
