Very pleased to see a section about self publishing. I needed a little help to fine tune my novel and it was self publishing that I really wanted to find out about. Some of the course I found a little basic, but I understand that it has to cater for new writers as well as those with some experience. Having not written or published a novel I am now quite excited that I have finished and am in the process of publishing.

I don’t think any writer knows how to write a sex scene without help. It has to be pitched just right based on the potential audience for the book, and it was the biggest thing I was struggling with. Thankfully the course helped me sort out how to say what I wanted to so that the scene does not look out of place. I won’t be writing the next 50 Shades of Grey but I would like to succeed in getting something published if I can. I used this course to fine tune my novel and make amendments as I went through. It’s all finished so I’m not concentrating on the last section and preparing for submission. This is where most of us budding writers fail, I think. I do ask friends for an opinion, but I would much prefer to be able to ask someone in the industry or someone independent. As I’ve discovered, creating believable characters in a believable setting is different for different genres. I have previously written a detective novel and this is my first attempt at a romance. I had to rethink how I write to make sure I had characters you could relate to and who you wanted to see have a happy ending. Great help.
